I personally am a socialist, not a Communist, a socialist. Socialist countries have longer holidays, are more atheist, have a free health service and of course actually care for the poor. Rampant capitalist countries like the US shit all over their poor whilst some people are getting 8 figure paychecks.

Re: Socialism vs Capitalism

Ive been reading you peoples arguement's about socialism vs capitalism and I think Democratic Capitalism as it is used in 23 European countries and 4 former very sucessfull countries that are former European colonies, (United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada), I think that it kicks ASS! Example. ALL of these countries have a middle class-upper class that accounts for 80% or more of their populations with only 20% or less living below the western poverty line. Communist and socialist countries are the complete opposite. They have most of their populations living at or below our poverty lines with a handfull of people controlling everything and all the resources. The few communist socialist countries that are even doing remotely as good as us are countries like China which has embraced a commercial semi free trade economy which the government mostly controlls but which also lets select business men take part in. Never the less the fact that it still has communist policies and a communist government contributes to 1.1 billion Chinese living in poor country regional villages at below the western poverty line and all but a few million of the other 300 million living at our past era working class levels. So if you look past Chinas overall succes and look a little deeper at its factual statistics you will see that it is an example of the failure of the communist system.

Re: Socialism vs Capitalism

@depresser your post makes no sense since the "socialist" countries you refer to and also capitalist... USA is more ultra-capitalist

Re: Socialism vs Capitalism

@DrDemosphen definitely, as long as these basic three things are provided by state it really is fine tbh. People's lives should not be gambled into the profit-making stitching or capitalism.

And I do agree that education, medical care and elderly care should be free.

Re: Socialism vs Capitalism

In my opinion, something in the middle is ideal. Capitalism with elements of dictate. Yet it should allow some personal freedom. With nationalization of all natural resources.
